New Horizon Youth Centre

‘Every day, another busload of young people are forced into homelessness’ - New Horizon Youth Centre, 2022

New Horizon Youth Centre are a charitable day centre that help London’s unseen 16-24 year olds who are experiencing homelessness. Often referred to as the ‘hidden homeless’, these young people often spend nights sofa surfing with friends or sleeping on night buses and don’t fit the stereotype of homelessness in the UK, causing a lack of awareness for the issue. Based on an alarming statistic, we encouraged London to Stop The Bus, with a prominent, attention-grabbing double decker bus that clearly highlights the scale of the struggle for many young people in London. For the 10 day campaign, this bus was also a hub for community events to support young people and spread awareness. We kicked the campaign off with a film that made the number of young people experiencinghomelessness extremely clear, without positioning it as a sob story.
